Whimsical Meets Swirls

When I started this 16" x 20" canvas, I had no idea where it would end.  After sketching the basic patterns, my paintbrush guided itself to add the decorative filigree.  My goal was to incorporate as many shades as possible without allowing them to "fight" with each other.  The final step was to add hues of complimentary shading, mostly in white.  I used acrylics on this piece, my paint of choice.
