While painting this piece, my mind was filled with precious memories of my mom's love of Christmas poinsettias.  I grew up in a small Minnesota town, and each Christmas my mom took great care to make sure all of the traditional decorations were displayed, the same ones from previous years but ones that her 5 kids expected (and wanted) to see.  We always had at least 2 poinsettias displayed and in addition, mom always contributed to the huge display at church.  That display surrounded the entire alter, a space that measured approximately 20' x 15'.  I loved studying each and every plant looking for similarities and differences, while catching myself drifting off from what our preacher was saying. Loved every minute of it, and this is the inspiration for this creation. 

This 12" wooden round is very lightweight, so easily hangs flat on your wall.  The aluminum insert is 8" and holds the colors from which I've chosen to use in my painting.  All paint I've used is acrylic and liquid gold leaf.  I've also included a table-top easel for displaying on a table. The colors are stunning and this piece will bring warmth to any room.  I hope you love it, and hope even more that it also brings memories to you.
