How Long Will My Soap Last?
We craft our soaps using a balanced blend of oils and butters, creating a bar that is firm yet still wonderfully moisturizing, sudsy, and creamy. Once cut, each bar undergoes a curing process of 4-6 weeks. This essential step not only hardens the soap but also makes it milder and, in many cases, enhances the lather. Using your soap before it has fully cured may cause it to dissolve more quickly. This happens not only because of the higher water content but also because the longer-chain fatty acids haven’t yet formed stable soap crystals—these crystals contribute to the bar’s hardness and longevity. If you have hard water, you might notice your soap doesn't last as long as it would in soft water. This is because harder water requires more effort to create a rich lather, causing the soap to wear down faster. To extend its lifespan, be sure to let your soap dry thoroughly between uses. We recommend using a well-ventilated soap dish that allows for proper airflow. While it’s difficult to give an exact estimate, in our home, a bar typically lasts about 3-4 weeks in the shower.

Avocado Oil helps strengthen the hair and moisturizes the skin.  It is lightweight and fast absorbing.

Grapeseed oil moisturizes and conditions facial hair which softens the hair. It absorbs quickly, is great for the skin, and is lightweight.  

Jojoba oil moisturizes, softens the beard, and helps tame it.  Jojoba oil is fast absorbing and great for the skin too. Jojoba oil should help reduce the breakage of the hair too.

Castor oil is a heavier oil but protects the hair and skin it acts as an emollient and is high in ricinoleic acid.  

Argan oil is great for both the skin and hair.  It has vitamins E, A, and Omega 6 plus antioxidants and linoleic acid.  This provides hydration of skin and hair.  Argan oil can help with thickening the beard.

Our personal favorite! A must have moisturizer for normal, combination, or dry skin.  Use daily after cleansing. A beautiful scent of Neroli, Rose, & Geranium leaves the skin feeling softened and nourished while helping to replenish the moisture balance of the skin. Please do your own research.  I make no claims that you will experience any benefits to using the product.  This is information I have found based on research and the reasoning behind why I picked the ingredients to create a product.

Stearic Acid thickens and stabilizes the lather by binding the bubbles together.  It helps with the smooth close shave and softens the skin.

Shea butter may moisturize, protect, and soothe the skin. It may also reduce the possibility of razor burn.

Coconut oil creates the lather and lubricates the skin.

Vegetable Glycerin is a humectant that attracts moisture to the skin.  It may have some conditioning properties too.

Castor oil is a lather booster that helps to stabilize the lather and create larger thicker bubbles.  

Hemp oil provides excellent lubrication for smooth razor glide, moisturizes, reduces skin irritation, and is high in Omega-3 & 6 which is very beneficial.

Sugar is a lather booster and silk amino acid adds to the silky texture. 

Phenoxyethanol (and) Caprylyl Glycolis a preservative that is less than 1% of the recipe.  Shave soap comes in contact with water which means it has the potential to grow some nasty things.  Including the preservative is necessary.  If you want to special order a set with a batch of refill pucks that are fragrance-free and preservative-free that is an option.  I am not responsible if things end up growing in the soap after exposure to water.  I do respect individuals who wish to avoid fragrances and preservatives.

How to Use:

Place a bit of water into the bowl and use the brush to work up the lather.  Use the brush to apply the lather to your skin.  Then shave using your razor of choice.  Then rinse off any product that remains on the skin.

Shave Soap Care:  Try not to add more water than needed.  The soap needs to dry out between uses so please do not cover it.   The bowl is refillable with a shave refill puck. Permitting the soap to dry out between uses will help with longevity of the soap.

Shave croaps are a wonderful alternative to shave creams or gels. 

Think a lotion that lathers a bit that you shave with that encourages the hair to stand up just a bit.  This is accomplished by adding kaolin clay to the mix.

Directions: Place a small amount in the palm of your hand and add just a bit of water to it.  Bring to a lather in your hand. Rub across the area (legs, underarms,ect) you are going to shave.  Once the area is covered shave as usual and rinse off, enjoy!  

Ingredients: aloe vera juice, water, coconut oil, palm oil, olive oil, kaolin clay, sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide, castor oil, stearic acid, vegetable glycerin, fragrance oil, mica powder, sugar, silk protein, Diazolidinyl Urea (and) Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate (and) Propylene Glycol (preservative)

This product does contain water and aloe juice which means I need to include a preservative (Diazolidinyl Urea (and) Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate (and) Propylene Glycol).

So why did I pick the ingredients I did?

First off I created a whipped soap paste using: water, coconut oil, palm oil, stearic acid, and olive oil plus the lye, sugar, and silk protein.  This helps create the lather.Coconut oil, castor oil, palm oil, and sugar are specifically used for lather. Olive oil offers some hydration qualities.  The lye is consumed during the soaping process and the water is used in this paste that is the base.  The silk gives a silky feel to the product.

Aloe vera juice and vegetable glycerin are used for their wonderful moisturizing and hydrating properties.  Kaolin clay is an exfolient.  Stearic acid adds additional structure and moisture.  

Just a shave croap does not have any fragrance or mica powder used.

Using your soap before it has fully cured may cause it to dissolve more quickly. This happens not only because of the higher water content but also because the longer-chain fatty acids haven’t yet formed stable soap crystals—these crystals contribute to the bar’s hardness and longevity.

If you have hard water, you might notice your soap doesn't last as long as it would in soft water. This is because harder water requires more effort to create a rich lather, causing the soap to wear down faster. To extend its lifespan, be sure to let your soap dry thoroughly between uses. We recommend using a well-ventilated soap dish that allows for proper airflow.

While it’s difficult to give an exact estimate, in our home, a bar typically lasts about 3-4 weeks in the shower.
